The American Society for Quality (ASQ) has approximately 90 000 members worldwide. The last couple of years ASQ is presenting itself more and more as a worldwide organization for the promotion of quality. To address the international market in a coordinated way, ASQ GLOBAL was founded. Currently ASQ Global has offices in Mexico and China and has started a joint venture in India.

In countries that have a lot of members like Canada and Brazil there are local member communities. These are identical to the local "sections" that exist within the US.

To have a local contact point in countries that do not have a lot of members, ASQ has appointed “Country Counselors”. We are the  Country Counselor for Belgium, that has approximately 75 members.

At this moment we are working within an international ASQ task force on the development of the globalization and on the renewal of the country counselor program

• Each year ASQ organizes a conference. The “World Conference on Quality and Improvement (WCQI)” is one of the best in the world and value for money.

I have been an ASQ member since 1991, a country counselor since 2002 and have been elected ASQ Fellow in 2006. In 1997 I attended the WCQI for the first time. It was organised in Orlando, Florida that year. I have not missed one since.

ASQ membership is without any doubt the best investment I have ever made in my development as a quality professional.
